The Regal Heights community recently unveiled a special plaque at the top of the Glenholme Steps, naming them the Dick Watts Steps, in memory of community activist and long-time RHRA Chairman Dick Watts.
Davenport MPP Cristina Martins added her own tribute to Dick Watts on October 19, reading a member statement in the Ontario Legislature.
Pumpkin Carving 2014
On Saturday. Oct. 25, the RHRA, along with the Northcliffe Village Residents' Association presented the second annual Pumpkin Carving event for kids at the park on the corner of Northcliffe and St. Clair.
More than 50 children and their families turned out and had a wonderful time. There were some special guests too, including our MPP Christina Martins and Catholic School Board trustee Frank D'Amico.
Many thanks to the hard work and efforts of organizers John Keating, Susan Noakes, Maurice & Susan Williams and Jamie Chow. Also special thanks to Freddie's No Frills, who greatly defrayed the cost of the pumpkins and Frank D'Amico, Ward 6 Trustee at the Toronto Catholic District School Board, who arranged for the use of the Northcliffe parkette for the event. Have a great Halloween!
RHAA Shinny Team - You may recognize some of your neighbours! These local guys have been playing shinny hockey together for at least two or three years once a week. They are our neighbours and you may recognize some of these happy people. They all live in Regal Heights or the Hillcrest area. Karl Brown initiated the idea. They also help to coach kids in their hockey skills. Victor Genova received the Toronto Citizenship award for promoting hockey in the neighbourhood. Kevin Hewitt took the picture at the Campbell outdoor rink and added the faces of those who were missing in the inserts.
